This site is intended for writers involved in the Lake Illawarra Film Project. The site will provide some information and links to assist writers in thinking about the digital story telling form we are using in the MAP project.
Each writer could expect to have between 5 to 15 hours of work on the project depending on many factors around scheduling workshops, writer’s availability for workshops, participants availability for workshops and all the usual obstacles that community projects can throw up.
Unlike some of the projects that you will see described in the information about Digital Storytelling on this site, our way of working will be a bit more fluid. Often Digital Storytelling workshops would be run over set times ie a weekend or 5 days. Our approach will be more flexible. Some of the participants may start and finish their digital stories within a few workshops and others may stretch the process over several months. I think our stories will benefit from this ability to wait and not rush. This will help the scripts and well as the image selection process.
Some of our participants might not come to a “formal” workshop and we will have much more individualised times with them to develop their “digital story”
Getting you started thinking about Digital Stories as a “form” I have made a page of links for you to browse through. I suggest that you take an hour to look around at this material. The project will pay this hour as your first hour of work on the project and it will replace us getting together for a workshop. (Even though getting together would be great - it would be a challenge to find a suitable time for everyone).
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, creative ideas, suggestions, observations or ideas about how you might like to work in regards to assisting people with their stories on this project.
But for now follow this link to a page of links and information about Digital Storytelling.
